I'm back...

You may be thinking to yourself...she's back...back from where? of course, she's back! She's been back for months now. But to tell you the truth...it only feels like I've been back for about a two months.

Though I returned home in October of last year, it only been within the last two months that I really feel like I am home. I had a fairly hard time adjusting back to life in America. There are many different reasons why...and yet I am now happy to say that I am back. Feeling "normal", adjusted and looking forward to what God will be handing me in my present mission field at work.

Welcome back. Clearly, I've never been gone for as long as your were. My record was 3+ months in Papua New Guinea. But even in my shorter travels, the reverse culture shock was definitely the more difficult one to deal with. Living cross-culturally is wild enough, but experiencing real poverty and devastation first-hand is truly life-changing and you won't ever "get over it," I believe. Your life is richer for the experiences you've had, but I know it is difficult to come to terms with where you've been vs. where you are.

I'd love to hear some of your stories someday, Nat. May God bless you richly, my old friend. (Not that you're old, but you know...older than me, at least!)
